Want To Switch Back to Gmail From Inbox? Here’s How.

Google announced Inbox by Gmail in 2014, ultimately intending for it to take the place of Gmail. The problem is that even though they are both email services, they are very different. Gmail’s main selling point is how simple and easy to use it. Inbox by Gmail, while still an email service, is much more feature heavy. It has a list style service to separate emails for you, and it enables you to integrate this email lists with your calendar. It’s sort of an amalgamation of multiple google services.

In reality, regardless of how similar they are, their differences make them two totally different services for two different types of people. If you just want an inbox to hold all your emails, Gmail is perfectly sufficient. Inbox by Gmail is aimed more at professionals who would benefit from seamless integration between the multiple services. If you’re like most people, you don’t need the added complexity that Inbox by Gmail brings, but after trying it out and wanting to switch back to the plain old Gmail, you’re finding yourself just getting redirected to Inbox. Here’s how to get back to Gmail for good.

1. Open Inbox by Google on your computer.

2. Click on the menu icon that you can find at the top leftmost corner of your screen.

3. Click on Settings and then Other and it will present an option to “Redirect Gmail to inbox.google.com. Uncheck it.

That’s all there is to it. Now whenever you want to open your Gmail, it will bring you straight to your normal Gmail inbox.
